What's new with The Verse of the Day?

Tuesday April 30th 2013

To The Verse of the Day Subscribers and Website users

I started this ministry to share with others the hope and encouragement the Lord has given me. This took on a deeper meaning in 2006 when my mobility challenges drastically increased resulting from a rare hip disease I suffered with when I was three years old. I have been very grateful to be able to invest in peoples lives, the same as I receive help each day to overcome my physical limitations.

At present the ministry uses a shared web site host. What this means is many websites are stored on the same computer and they all share the system resources (such as hard drive space, speed and memory) of one computer. While working on the upcoming Member Area at the start of April I received an error message from the computer which hosts the ministry websites. What it translates into is that we are exceeding the shared web site hosting package. This is to God's glory for allowing the ministry to grow.

I have purchased a suitable computer on behalf of the ministry to act as our dedicated website host. This will have the strength needed to run the ministry websites. This also removes the restrictions our shared website host placed on the # of subscribers allowed to our daily devotion. Graciously a brother in the Lord I met online, Sammie, is generously helping to configure this computer to meet our website hosting needs. I value your prayers for Sammie --- both that the Lord will grant Him wisdom and also thanking God for the kindness he has shown.

In addition to this new computer supporting our website hosting needs (including the upcoming Member Area) it will give up the opportunity to gather online together to pray for each other. When these tools are ready for use I will send out a ministry news update.

Do you have a Facebook, mySpace , LinkedIn , Stumble Upon , Twitter or Google account?

There are buttons on The Verse of the Day home page to click which automatically posts a link to your profile and shares the ministry with your friends.

Would you share a Testimonial of how The Verse of the Day has encouraged you?

The reason we have a Testimonial section is to help those are struggling trust the ministry so the Lord may use this as a vessel of healing and wholeness in their life. For those of you who haven't already done so please consider doing this.

Your prayers are valuable beyond measure.

Praying is a practical way of supporting the ministry. Please remember to pray for the Lord's guidance and growth of the ministry for His sake, to reach people who are hurting and needing encouragement. We also thank the Lord for a new volunteer, Dave, working on the programming which will bring the Member Area to life.

Are you interested in financially supporting the ministry?

In addition to the regular monthly bills (phone, office supplies, postage and bank fees) the next big purchases for the ministry are upgrades for the computer server. Additional memory and hard drives are needed. This will cost approximately $250.

I receive a nominal disability pension. I am motivated to see the ministry grow and become my employment. With my physical disability I have been able to relate to people who are struggling. It is very rewarding sharing the love of God. I own a modest home. The funding for maintenance to my home was discontinued in 2012 due to funding cutbacks of the disability pension I receive. This is how I will initially be using a part time income from the ministry when it is able to hire me part time.

The following are four ways you may financially support the ministry:

  • The Verse of the Day Online Store
Our online store has a variety of faith filled bookmarks, postcards and wallet cards. Proceeds of each sale support this ministry. All subscribers of the e-mail edition of The Verse of the Day are eligible for our Customer Loyalty Program discount. You may access our online store at:

  • Ganovia Gourmet Black Coffee
How would you like to support our ministry by purchasing our delicious Ganovia coffees or cocoa? Not only do they taste great, but they are nutritious! Be sure to check out our other products!

  • One Time Contribution
The Lord God has been faithful to provide for me. Any financial contribution you make we see the Lord as the source with you as the vessel. The dollar value is insignificant. What is important is that you have acted in obedience and in faith to the Lord's prompting. The details of how to make a one time financial contribution to the ministry is found here:

  • Ongoing Contributions
We are setup to receive ongoing donations through PayPal. For those who sign up for an ongoing contribution (as little as $5 every 3 months) no advertising will be displayed when you access your account in the upcoming Member Area of our web site. Please visit our Donation web page to sign up for an Ongoing Contribution:

I know we are facing tough times. The Lord has called us to be like salt of the earth. Our lives are a testimony to the living God in the eyes of hurting people. The online community we are working towards establishing is to for fellowship. Within the online community we are also intentionally putting in place opportunities for networking so for those who have stepped out in faith and obedience to the Lord in owning a business this may offer networking opportunities and possibly prospects for new business. I can't express how important your prayers are to to the impact the ministry is able to have for the sake of God's Kingdom.

On a personal note: On May 22nd I will be undergoing another serious and risky hip surgery. We are hoping that this will reduce some of the pain I experience each day. The recovery is going to be long and hard for me. I will still be experiencing intense pain and mobility challenges after I heal from this surgery. This is one in a series of surgeries I am needing. I still have several years of physical challenges ahead of me. As the Lord brings me to mind please offer a prayer on my behalf. I graciously appreciate this.

1 Peter 3:8-9
To sum up, let all be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit; not returning evil for evil, or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing.
