Bible Reading For Today:

1 Peter 2:9-10
But you are a chosen race, A royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
- NASB

One Year Bible Reading Guide For Today:

Exodus 7, 8 & 9: The stage is set for a face off between the living God and Pharaoh. With Pharaoh's heart hardened God begns to send plagues into the land of Egypt. First the water throughout Egypt turned into blood, killing the fish and making the water undrinkable. The Egyptian magicians performed this sign with their magic. Next the Lord God sent a plague of frogs throughout the land of Egypt. Again Pharaoh's magicians duplicated this sign with their magic. Pharaoh begged the plague would end and God honoured this. Yet Pharaoh's heart was hard. Then a plague of gnats took over the land of Egypt. When Pharaoh's magicians couldn't make this happen with their magic they realized it was the hand of God that was against Egypt. Yet Pharaoh's heart was hard to the will of the living God. The Lord responds with a plague of flies. Once again when the Lord ended the plague Pharaoh's heart became hard. Now the living God struck the land of Egypt with a plague which killed only the Egyptian livestock. Even with the Lord's witness to His chosen people Pharaoh remained closed towards the Isrealites. Next the Lord sent a plague of boils which made animals and people ill. Pharaoh's heart continues to be hard towards the living God. Following this a plague in the form of a hail storm struck the land of Egypt. The livestock and people died who didn't seek protection from the storm. Still Pharaoh won't yield himself to the living God.
