One Year Bible Reading Guide For Today:

Leviticus 16, 17 & 18: Two of Aaron's sons, priests the Lord assigned while meeting with Moses on Mount Sinai, have recently died when not following the Lord's protocol in making sacrifices. The Lord is providing explicit directions for Aaron to follow when he enters The Most Holy Place. This includes the clothing he is wear and making sacrifices for his own sins before he makes sacrifices on behalf of the Israelite people. The Lord is providing The Day of Atonement to be restored in righteousness to the Lord following the sacrifices in The Most Holy Place and as a day of Sabbath rest. In establishing this annual event the Lord is drawing the Isaelites in acknowledging their dependence upon the living God. The Lord continues to outline to Moses the importance of not eating the blood of animals. The rational is that the life of every living create is in its blood. Those who don't honour God's instruction of not consuming blood will be cut off from the Israelites. Sexual immorality is inappropriate for God's people. The Lord teaches Moses this in such a way as for the Israelites to understand committing sexual immorality causes division and dishonour to those in your family and community. The Lord is drawing His people out of the land where people engage in immorality. God's people are set apart and to live in holiness.
