One Year Bible Reading Guide For Today:
Numbers 10, 11 & 12: The Lord is further developing Moses leadership skills. As instructed by God they are to use trumpet signals to assemble the community, it's leaders and various tribes. As well a trumpet blast is a signal to defend themselves in their own land against an attacking enemy. In this situation the sound of the trumpet will remind the Israelites the Lord is with them as they head into battle. The cloud has lifted from above the Tabernacle. God is giving the signal for the Israelite people to move their camp from the Sinai desert. When the Israelites complained about the Lord's anger was against the Israelites. Moses prayed to God and made intercession for the Israelites. The Lord's anger was against stirred against the Israelite people when they complained about their diet of manna the Lord has been providing. They yearned for the meat and foods they ate while in bondage in the land of Egypt. As the burden of leading the Israelite people was too great for Moses the Lord anointed seventy elders to lead the Israelites with the same wisdom the Lord provided Moses. As Moses continued to pray to God on behalf of the Israelites the Lord provided quail (a form of meat) for the entire population to eat. While the Israelites continued to move to the new location the Lord would give them Aaron and Miriam began to speak against Moses. Moses lives a life of humility before the Lord. God Himself came and defended Moses because Moses heart belongs to the Lord.
