One Year Bible Reading Guide For Today:
Luke 1 & 2; Psalms 23: Luke 1 & 2 Summary: The gospel of Luke was wrote by a doctor. Extensive detail is given to Jesus ministry (including the Christmas and Easter seasons we celebrate each year). John the Baptist prepares the way for Jesus. His birth preceded Jesus in a similar way John the Baptist's ministry prepared the way for Jesus' earthly ministry. Both births are foretold by angels. This heightened their importance to God's desire to interact with humanity. The Holy Spirit inspired many prophecies which fulfil Old Testament scripture. When Jesus is born He is presented in the temple and the Holy Spirit inspires additional words for the importance of Jesus life on the earth bridging the gap for humanity to stand in the presence of a Holy God. Even as a child Jesus yearns for the things of God. His wisdom challenges the temple leaders. Psalm 23 Summary: A psalm of comfort --- timeless for all humanity --- is born in King David's heart. This is one of comfort for those who face life's trials and assurance of God's unconditional love.
