Luke 3 & 4; Psalms 24: Luke 3 & 4 Summary: John the Baptist is preaching. He is preparing the way for Jesus ministry to impact people's lives. While John the Baptist is baptizing people Jesus comes forward for His baptism. Initially John discourages this. But when reminded of it's purpose John readily agrees. We find a detailed summary of the genealogy leading to Jesus birth is provided as a reference in understand scripture and establishing a time line in man's history. Jesus submits Himself to the will of God the Father and is tested in the wilderness. His pattern for our guide on how to resist temptation is established: Resisting temptation requires an intimate knowledge of the scriptures and a heart that is willing to pursue a Godly character in life. Jesus teaching isn't well received for the people who grew up with Him. He is able to deliver a person by an oppressive spirit and heal many as He travels sharing the good news. Psalm 24 Summary: A reminder to take time during the day to be lost in the Majesty of God's creation is found in those who desire to know God. Additionally warnings are issued to avoid the snares of this life.
