Question: John the Baptist's baptism was for what?

  • Salvation
  • Repentance
  • Renewal
  • Cleansing

John the Baptist brought the people to understand the need for repentance. This was the focus of his ministry. He prepared the people of the day for Jesus' earthly ministry. When Jesus entered into His earthly ministry the next step in God's plan for salvation was revealed through Jesus life, teaching and death on the cross. It is that we need to take up our cross and follow our Lord each day. This is done in word in acknowledging our need for Him. As well our actions match this declaration. We need to show others that we belong to Jesus because we care about their eternal destiny by sharing God's love and grace in action through our daily interactions with those we encounter.

Based on Matthew 3:1-12
